About Network Rail
Our Mission is to provide a safe, reliable and efficient railway fit for the 21st century
Formed in 2002, Network Rail owns and operates Britain’s rail infrastructure. Today, some 33,000 people are together responsible for the vast national network of railways, signals, bridges, tunnels, electrified lines and communications, as well as 17 of the country’s largest stations. All told, some 2,750,000 people travel on our network every single day.
Naturally, we take our responsibilities to those customers very seriously indeed. It’s not enough to simply maintain our service. We’re always looking to improve it – often dramatically – and have a number of landmark projects on the horizon. The £400million redevelopment of King’s Cross Station and a £3.5billion programme to increase train capacity to and through London are just two examples of investment matching ambition.
There’s still a lot to do. The responsibilities are massive. And the challenges are as rewarding as they are huge. We hope you’re ready for them.
