Job title: Clerk of Works

Location: Regionally Based - West Yorkshire

Salary: £30,000 - £38,000 per annum, dependent upon experience

Expectation of the role:

You will be the 'eyes and ears' for the client on site, updating them on progress through the completion of our weekly reports. You will also be proactively monitoring the scheme progress against the contract programme and review drawings to ensure that the schemes are being built as planned and query any discrepancies.

The work will involve undertaking regular inspections of construction work to monitor progress, quality and verifying compliance with contractual drawings. Work will also include; identifying discrepancies, preparing written reports with supporting photographs at weekly intervals, experience of organising, snagging, and end of defect inspections.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring that a consistently high standard of quality control and supervision is maintained on each development via site visits.
  • Assessing contract implementation with due regard to building and health and safety legislation and where necessary instruct contractors to cease operations until further notice from the Estates and Development Director
  • Ensuring that the standards of work and the materials supplied by contractors are as specified in accordance with the contract information.
  • Participate in the completion of inspection reports for the feedback of information from building & M&E projects to the Client, project manager and design team
  • Monitoring the performance of the contractors and consultants on site and to ensure that building works are constructed in accordance with the drawings and specifications
  • Attend and report to pre-contract and site progress meetings
  • Identifying technical problems on site, to recommend corrective action
  • Witness testing and commissioning on all engineering installations

  • Key Requirements:

    Own car essential and ideally you will be a member or working towards ICWCI, and have an up to date CSCS card.
