Job Role:

An opportunity has arisen for an Operations Improvement Engineer to join a leading Manufacturer of HVAC systems. The ideal candidate will be educated to degree level in Production, Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent.

Reporting to the Quality Manager, this Operations Improvement Engineer will primarily focus on continuous improvement projects relating to the quality of their products and services offered from within the operational areas of the business.

The role of Operations Improvement Engineer will have a "hands on" approach and an essential skill and ability to personally implement identified actions.

The successful candidate who proves capable in this role will have the opportunity to progress to other more senior roles within the Company's Operational Team or across the wider Group. Our Client is looking to develop succession plans for key individuals and the successful candidate is likely to form part of these plans.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Lead quality improvement
  • Identify opportunities for improvement
  • Plan and lead quality improvement projects
  • Ensure that both actual and perception of product quality and services from the Company Operations are maintained at the expected level
  • Prepare and provide training and documentation
  • Re-engineer both processes and machinery to improve product and performance4

  • Key Experience:

    Essential


  • Proven production engineering experience (minimum 3 years) within a medium volume manufacturing company
  • Proven hands on experience including examples of successful implemented improvement projects within a factory environment is essential.

  • Desirable


  • Lean manufacturing experience

  • Qualifications & Training:


  • HNC/D, Degree in Production. Mechanical or, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent
  • Problem Solving Methodology

  • Knowledge:


  • Familiarity with the requirements and expectations of ISO 9001
  • Knowledge of aluminium and steel materials and production capabilities with such materials
  • Knowledge of general manufacturing processes involved with processing and assembly of sheet metal and aluminium extruded products along with copper pipework plumbing and electrical control panel wiring.
  • Knowledge of general manufacturing machinery including CNC punching, forming, bending, sawing, welding, etc

  • Job Related Skills & Abilities:

    Essential


  • Excellent analytical skills - to understand the complexity of some problems to identify root causes and execute corrective and improvement actions
  • This role will have "hands on" approach and as such having the necessary skills to personally implement actions is deemed an essential requisite.
  • Organised, methodical and self-motivated individual with initiative
  • Flexible and able to work as part of and/or lead a team
  • Strong character and resilient - to ensure quality standards are improved in a robust manufacturing environment
  • Good communication skills
  • Good persuasion skills
  • Ability to prepare for and provide training to others
  • Computer literate with Microsoft Office Suite Programs

  • Desirable


  • Some CAD experience preferably Autodesk Inventor
