Title of position: MDU Engineer
Reports to: VP Operations and Projects (Guillaume Tellier)

Overall Responsibility for the FiberLean Make Down Units (MDU) maintenance, operation and installation

1/ Supervise and carry out all the maintenance aspects of the MDUs with a target of zero breakdown during customer trials (mechanical, electrical, ICA):

  • Carry out the preventive and predictive maintenance of the MDUs 
  • Manage the strategic spare parts stock
  • Carry out corrective maintenance during customer trials (fault finding and corrections) in a very reactive but still safe manner
  • Implement the agreed improvements on the units (and be part of the people suggesting improvements)

2/ Supervise the installation and dismantling of Make Down Units:

  • Perform pre-visit to the customer’s plants to identify best location for MDU and where to connect the utilities. Interact and agree with local engineering personnel to prepare all the practical aspects of the installation and operation of the units
  • Supervise the unloading and installation the make down units in customer plants for the FiberLean trials as well as dismantling, packing and loading at the end of trials
  • Insure the Safety of FiberLean’s, customers’ and contractors’ employees. Insure loading and positioning on site is done without damage to the MDUs.

3/ In some cases, when maintenance duties allow, operate the MDU during customer trials:

  • Insure the product is made in specifications, in time and safely
  • Monitor the process and production parameters, 
  • Train others on operating the MDU

Key responsibilities:

4/ When other duties on the MDU allow, support other maintenance aspects of FiberLean:

  • Support FiberLean pilot plant in the UK for maintenance
  • Support start up and commissioning of FiberLean plants
  • Support Engineering group on design and specification aspects of the FiberLean plants worldwide

Position is primarily based in Cornwall (UK) but with a significant amount of travels (50 to 75%) worldwide. 

Some long hour shifts, occasionally working at night and weekends.


Candidate Specifications:

Education & Other qualifications    
Must haves:

  • At a minimum a multi-skilled engineering apprenticeship and be crossed-skilled and competent mechanically and electrically
  • At least HNC in either Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering
  • English: fluent    


  • PLC skilled plus fluency in other languages

Must have:

  • Minimum of 5 years of maintenance in industrial environment    


  • 10-year experience
