3 x Professors in the Wolfson School of Mechanical, Electrical & Manufacturing Engineering

This is an exciting time for the Wolfson School as we look to recruit Professors in Thermal Energy, Wind Energy and Manufacturing Engineering. The School is passionate about driving its success to new heights and look for exciting candidates to help us do that.

Professor in Thermal Energy Engineering

We are looking to appoint a Professor of Thermal Energy Engineering to join CREST and the wider Wolfson School of Mechanical, Electrical & Manufacturing engineering activities. We are seeking highly motivated and creative candidates with an excellent track record in thermal energy engineering or related fields. The candidate should have an excellent international profile. Areas of interest might include, but are certainly not limited to, energy conversion, thermal or electrical energy storage, heat and mass transfer, energy materials, control, systems modelling and cryogenic or elevated temperature devices.

Professor in Wind Energy

We are now looking to appoint a Professor of Wind Energy to join CREST. The candidate should have an excellent international profile in these sectors and we particularly welcome candidates with a background in wind resource evaluation, aerodynamics applied to wind energy, operations and maintenance research and array performance. Experience in ocean renewable energy technologies would be an advantage.

We seek individuals who can contribute positively to CREST’s research profile, be a leader in the area of Wind Energy research, demonstrate their current contribution to developments in their field of expertise, and have a significant portfolio of publications at an internationally recognised level. The person should be able to lead and participate in research consortia in the field of Wind Energy, such as the Supergen Hub in Offshore Renewable Energy, and be prepared to work with industrial partners including the Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult. From a teaching perspective, the successful appointee must be able and willing to teach a wide range of topics in relation to Wind and Ocean Energy, including topics relevant to CREST’s world-renowned MSc in Renewable Energy Systems Technology.

Professor in Manufacturing Engineering

We are looking to appoint a Professor of Manufacturing Engineering to join our School of Mechanical, Electrical & Manufacturing Engineering. We are seeking highly motivated and creative candidates with an excellent track record in manufacturing engineering. The candidate should have an excellent international profile. Areas of interest might include, but are certainly not limited to, innovative production processes and manufacturing technology, automation and robotics, digital manufacturing, manufacturing design, manufacturing informatics and future industrial systems.

We seek individuals who can contribute positively to our research profile, be a leader in the area of manufacturing research, clearly demonstrate their international profile and their recent contributions to developments in their field of expertise and have a significant portfolio of quality publications in suitable high impact journals. The person should have a track record of attracting substantial research funding to support their work and be able to lead and participate in the development of research proposals for submission to research councils, Innovate UK, Industry, the EU and other funding sources.  From a teaching perspective, the successful appointee must be able and willing to teach appropriate engineering subjects based on their expertise.
