My client based in Stevenage, focus on the design and manufacture of advanced satellites and systems for telecommunications, earth observation, and navigation and science programmes.
Supporting the UK's military satellite communications services to the UK armed forces, including mobile voice, video, Internet and broadcast communications.

Currently recruiting for a Mechanical Technician with an NDT background, working on a contract basis for circa 6 months.
The main purpose of the role is to carry out Non Destructive Testing (NDT) using X-Ray, Thermography and Ultra sound and other techniques as required.

Essential Requirements:
" Relevant licences at level 2 aerospace radiography or equivalent. To EN4179
" RPS Qualification
" The priority is in Radiography. Digital experience essential
" Experience working on NDT in an aerospace or Automotive background as a minimum
" A willingness to travel and will be happy for long periods if needed.

Skills you will have:
Demonstrable experience of installation of grounding points skin to skin and riv nuts, large structure assembly the fitting of cleats and brackets, general fitting and assembly of small riveted aluminium piece parts.
Knowledge of panel blank manufacturing, insert installation, Ty base and heat pipe bonding.
Successful candidates will follow electronic work instructions and drawings to produce satellite panels and assemblies. Be confident in recording information within appendices and on electronic production system.
Work in accordance with local, company and project specific methods and procedures including relevant clean room and cleanliness requirements.

Naturally you will be have the ability to work from drawings and electronic work instructions.
Modern Apprenticeship in Aerospace/Space production, maintenance or equivalent would be an advantage.
