The fleet services delivers front line commercial/municipal collections of multiple waste streams utilising various transport options including RCV's, Roll on/Roll off and skip vehicles to customers in various regions across the UK.
This role is based at their Northampton depot and vehicle maintenance facility - This is where the Workshop Team manage and maintain the fleet of vehicles required to operate the wide range of services provided to the local area.

About the role

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Workshop Technician/Fitter to be based at the site in Northampton, to work as part of a team undertaking the maintenance of a mixed fleet of vehicles. You will be required to observe all rules and appropriate operating procedures and instructions. You are also required to attend roadside breakdowns and possess the ability to work as part of a team.
Duties include repairs to all types of vehicles, plant and any other work to do with the service.
Workshop Technicians are required to fill in a daily worksheet / timesheet individual job cards, legal documentation such as safety inspection sheets for vehicle and body equipment and plant maintenance each day, completed forms must be given to your supervisor before the end of your shift. The participation in the development of the business, by active involvement in their Environmental Services policy and procedures to training is also required. This enables you to be equipped with the necessary skills to carry out your duties to the required standards.

Thier technicians perform their duties in an efficient and effective manner that ensures maximum productivity whilst ensuring that the task is completed to schedule. Any discrepancies are to be reported immediately to your supervisor.
The position will be 48 hours per week, Monday to Friday 0700 to 1700 hrs, but you will need to be flexible in your approach as the successful candidate will have to assist with covering early morning call outs, bank holidays and Saturdays when required.

The above responsibilities are not an exhaustive list. You will be required to perform any duties deemed necessary by your supervisor, ensuring that current standards are maintained, utilizing both internal and external resources.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications

Candidates must possess a number of year's practical experience and be apprentice trained,
time-served as a mechanical fitter, and hold a current driving license Class C license is essential, with an LGV C+E considered desirable.
Efficiency in the following tasks (Subject to an LGV Driver license qualification)
Taking vehicles for M.O.T testing Mechanical Pneumatic Welding Hydraulics, is required.
The ideal person will be flexible and possess an enthusiastic approach to working in sometimes adverse conditions. You must be able to work on own initiative and you will be expected to supply your own comprehensive tool kit.
The ability to ensure the delivery of high levels of customer service is also essential in this role.
Good communication skills are essential for liaising with the customers and colleague and you must be prepared to attend internal and external training courses.
