The rail industry has now embarked on the most ambitious new £2bn electrification programme Britain has seen for more than 30 years. Needless to say, this presents us with massive challenges and opportunities for the future – and to meet them successfully, it’s vital that we have a world-class team in place. As a result, we’re now seeking more outstanding engineers to join us, and help us deliver innovation and efficiency in line with challenging timescales.
You’ll manage the engineering aspects of the programme and build teams of engineers capable of working closely with suppliers and other stakeholders to develop solutions. Responsible for the development of engineers across the programme this role is all about achieving the best performance from our engineering talent. Working as part of the senior team on the programme the role will be expected to introduce new approaches to development and engineering assurance. Accountable for the management of engineering across the programme this role is expected to be critical to the delivery of the programme to cost, programme and quality.
There are other senior engineering management roles that whilst not directly involved in the delivery of the programme provide design management or specific technical leadership that will be essential for successful delivery .
You’ll need:
- Chartered Engineer status or equivalent
- Experience of Programme Management in a relevant Industry
- Construction design management skills
- Knowledge of railway engineering systems and equipment
- Excellent leadership and communication skills
