Further information

The Vehicle Certification Agency (VCA) is a specialist technical Agency within the Department for Transport with a particular emphasis on automotive and related technologies. It is the UK EC/ECE Type Approval Authority and Technical Service for automotive approvals, an accredited management systems certification body, and the Enforcement Authority for various related non-automotive Directives. VCA’s main business is automotive but we are also involved in other certification areas such as recreational craft (leisure boats), non-road mobile machinery, and enforcement cameras, and we aim to be able to offer expert advice to DfT and other government Departments where our certification expertise is required. VCA is a global agency with offices in the United Kingdom, Europe Far East, Asia and America

This is a key post in developing and maintaining VCA’s continual improvement requirements by supporting new and existing operational offices world wide with technical advice and interpretations on relevant legislation logging the questions and dialog in VCA’s electronic logging system (e-log) and transferring relevant data to VCA’s global information library, Vista. In addition to the technical requirements, you will research and assist in achieving VCA’s global accreditation strategy for new and existing territories, develop and introduce new test reports as required, identify and implement continuous improvement practices effective throughout VCA’s global operation and where necessary train internal and external customers in VCA’s methodology.

Although this position is primarily an automotive position, consideration will be given to applicants from other fields that can demonstrate the ability to adapt to the automotive sector.

You will be able to demonstrate:
• Qualification in an engineering discipline to HND or above. Consideration will be given to applicants with lesser qualifications who can demonstrate several years experience in a  homologation or similar role.
• Experience of automotive type approval or similar.
• Experience of quality systems
• Willingness to train in related subjects
• Computer literate
• Well developed customer care skills
• A willingness to travel
