The Science & Technology Facilities Council (STFC) is the UK's provider of large scale inter-disciplinary research infrastructures and their supporting technologies, which enable UK researchers to investigate the world we live in and understand the building blocks of the Universe.
We require a senior mechanical engineer to lead a team of engineers delivering innovative solutions to a variety of interesting and complex engineering challenges on collaborative projects for the STFC Nuclear Physics Science Programme.
You will possess extensive project management experience and professional engineering expertise to coordinate a team delivering mechanical design, construction, installation and performance testing of scientific instruments to be located at a variety of international science facilities.
Applicants must be capable of working at professional engineer level with a 1st or 2nd class honours degree complimented by extensive experience and proven track record in delivering projects involving advanced technology. As an effective manager, strong team working and communications skills are essential, alongside a highly creative and dedicated approach to problem solving. Ability to effectively use a 3D CAD package, perform FEA and have experience in managing HSE is essential.
